Where KOMEYUI began
KOMEYUI began in Port Melbourne in 2011 and moved to its home in Southbank in 2020. Take a seat at the sushi counter to watch each piece shaped in front of you, or settle into the dining room for Omakase at Table. A private dining room is available for groups.
The prints on our walls are from Komeyui, a series by Melbourne photographer and artist Carlo Oggioni.

Our chef — Kuma
Motomu Kumano — Kuma — grew up in a small fishing town in Hokkaido. He came to Australia in 2005 and opened KOMEYUI in Melbourne in 2011. As owner and director, he oversees each season’s omakase — created with the Melbourne and Brisbane teams — proposing ideas and refining dishes where needed.
